Community Residents – The concern for terrorism continues to linger throughout the world. Chemical weapons have been used on numbers of innocent victims in the recent past. Experts forecast more attacks of a similar nature in the near future. Protection of yourself and your family is directly related to early detection of the hazardous material. Activation of the HazMat Smart-Strip allows people with no formal training or extensive resources to identify a problem and act accordingly based on the product involved.

Industry / Corporate Professionals – Day in and day out workers come in contact with items of an unknown origin. In many cases it is unknown if the contents of packages are safe for handlers. The concern always exists of careless or deliberate packaging from the unknown. It is impossible to work in full chemical protection and costly to purchase digital detection equipment. The HazMat Smart-Strip enables employees to perform their work ensured that detection of a foreign substance or chemical will increase their personal safety and protect the company from further harm.

Police Officers – Police Officers are often placed in situation where they would have to assist in evacuation and / or traffic control within an incident scene. Most organizations do not outfit police officers with any type of respiratory protection or chemical protective clothing for use during these activities. With the use of HazMat Smart-Strip an officer would quickly know if he is with an area of potential harm and either elect to decontaminate or remove themselves from the area of harm.

Fire Departments – Hazardous Materials Teams are equipped to monitor toxic chemical but fire responders lack this ability due to the costs associated with the equipment necessary. A HazMat Smart-Strip would be used for each riding position on a fire apparatus and the event of the crew encountering a potential hazardous environment would be donned by placing the adhesive strip on the sleeve of the Firefighting Protective Ensemble. If firefighters are involved with rescuing of victims they will quickly be able to identify potential chemical agents that may be of harm by looking for a color change.

EMS - Many ambulance personnel are also not equipped to respond to chemical emergencies. Most often these chemical exposures are dispatched to Rescue Crews as medical type calls for service such as “Difficulty Breathing” or “Man Passed Out”. If an ambulance crew suspects possible hazardous materials involvement they can quickly place the HazMat Smart-Strip on their uniform and stop in the event of a color change. Once the strip is activated this allows for the EMS crew to safely withdraw from the emergency scene and request additional assistance from a Hazardous Materials Response Unit.

Hospital Emergency Rooms – Often contaminated patients enter the emergency room without being properly decontaminated. This puts the entire emergency room at risk for cross contamination and potential shutdown. The HazMat Smart-Strip can be used by the ER staff to provide a safe way to ensure ER Staff safety and Health by recognizing contamination early.

Hazardous Materials Teams – The HazMat Smart-Strip can be used by Hazardous Materials Teams that are working in a fully encapsulated chemical protective ensemble to augment electronic monitoring. This is an effective and inexpensive way for entry team personnel to quickly identify if they have just entered an area that does have a concentration of product.

Military and Special Teams – Special Teams such as SWAT, FBI, Executive Protection, and Military do not have electronic monitoring devices for each agent or soldier. The HazMat Smart-Strip would be issued to each team member allowing for instant identification of products within an area and the need for decontamination or removal from the affected area.

Hazardous Waste Workers – The HazMat Smart-Strip can be used by Hazardous Waste Workers that are working in chemical protective clothing to augment electronic monitoring. This is an effective and inexpensive way for personnel to quickly identify if they have just entered an area that does have a concentration of product.
